The Market

abacus Our business is international merchant and investment banking.

Our mission is to provide relationship driven corporate finance and merger and acquisition advisory services, for clients, whether in the U.S., overseas, or cross-border.

We believe that the market for M&A and private capital for start-ups and middle-market companies will become increasingly important over the next 3 to 5 years. The last several years have seen phenomenal growth in the number and size of businesses in the Northern California and Silicon Valley area, especially in the technology sector. However, the recent tightening of the capital environment, including the IPO market, the U.S. public equity and debt markets, and the banking markets, has created a series of well-publicized cashflow and operational crises. Despite this, the volume of investment dollars available and the number of companies searching for capital are still at historic highs. As the more liquid financial markets struggle to perform we believe these changes reflect an even more increased need for private capital, partnerships and merger & acquisition candidates among businesses in this region.

servers The market for cross-border advisory and corporate finance work is also attractive today. The recent growth in the U.S. financial markets, economy, and technology sector have even more deeply cemented the U.S. in general and the Northern California/Silicon Valley area in particular as the place to be for investors and technology players around the world. In the U.S., investors and companies looking to extend their reach, find new markets, and diversify against a slowdown in the U.S., are also coming to the conclusion that developing investors, partners, and acquisitions internationally should be a priority for them.

However, the sheer increase in the number of businesses in the U.S. West Coast region, both public and private, coupled with the market downturn, has done two things to complicate companies' cross-border priorities. For foreign firms and investors, it has created even more due diligence issues than usual, as interested foreign parties struggle to understand a dynamic U.S. business and financial marketplace, sort out quality firms and build relationships in the face of a bewildering array of new players. Domestically, it means that there are numerous new U.S. firms and investors developing businesses and looking for opportunities internationally often without the benefit of deep relationships or entrenched overseas networks to help them.

For both of those issues, Jane Capital Partners has the relationships and expertise to help.
